Sports and Societies
The Union supports about 90 societies and almost 40 sports teams – all run for students, by students. You can even become an executive member and have a direct say in how the society works. Or start up your own society if you and your friends have a great idea.
Taking part in sports, societies or volunteering is a great way to make friends, boost your confidence and add to your CV.
UBU runs Student Volunteering, a volunteering programme providing students with the opportunity to help in local community projects.
Student Volunteering aims to develop links between University students and the wider community, and volunteers from any academic discipline are supported.
Projects include visiting the elderly, working with the homeless or helping in a playgroup. Students can choose to volunteer for just one day or once a week for the whole year, and all students are welcome to get involved.
Student Advice Centre
The Union's Student Advice Centre is there to help you with any financial, visa, academic, personal or other issues you may encounter. Whatever the problem, no matter how big or small, our friendly team will be more than happy to listen and lend a hand.
Media and entertainment
Pick up a copy of The Bradford Student, the Union’s very own newspaper, or tune in to RamAir student radio to keep up on all the latest news on campus and beyond. There’s also a student TV station, Ubuonline channel on Youtube and twice-weekly film screenings with Bradford Student Cinema.
The Union also organises regular activities like Freshers’ Fortnight, club nights, special events, comedy nights, markets and (of course) our massive end of term party.
Student politics is thriving on campus, with regular general meetings that give you the chance to voice your opinion and influence the way the University works.
The Union also runs forums to represent the interests of key student groups.
