Biography

I graduated as an Occupational Therapist in 2001 and started my career working with services users experiencing mental health conditions. I spent the rest of my clinical career working in a Teaching Hospital in orthopedics and burns and plastic inpatient and outpatient departments. It was at this time I developed my passion in the education of healthcare students, subsequently in 2006 I was fortunate in gaining a lecturer's role on a new occupational therapy course at the University Of Bradford. During my time at the University of Bradford I have had various roles including placement and Essential Clinical Educator coordinator, admissions officer and lead a variety of modules.I now work part time at the university and continue to teach across all three levels of the Occupational Therapy course and on other allied health professional and MSc programmes. Additionally I am studying for my PhD which is undertaking the first stages of developing an occupational therapy programme for professional football players who are experiencing occupational disruptions.

Research

My PhD is investigating the occupational behaviour of professional football players whilst experiencing occupational disruptions(long term injury, retirement, playing on loan and contracts not being renewed) and is evaluating the development of the provision of an occupational therapy intervention to this population. This research aligns with my other research interests of emerging adulthood's occupational disruptions of becoming parents and transitioning into higher education. Previous research includes practice placement assessments for allied health students.
