Biography

Donna is an NMC registered midwife and teacher, and an Advance HE Fellow. Following graduation from the University of Bradford in 2012, she has worked clinically as a rotational midwife in Bradford, primarily in local community settings providing antenatal, postnatal, and intrapartum care in the home. She also has experience of intrapartum care in both consultant-led and midwife-led hospital birth settings.Prior to moving to the University of Bradford as an Assistant Professor in Midwifery in August 2022, Donna was based at another university within the region as a Lecturer in Midwifery - during this role she taught and supported teaching on a wide variety of profession specific and interprofessional modules.Prior to this, Donna was seconded to lead a 12 month Health Education England Project for the Yorkshire and Humber Region examining barriers and opportunities for midwifery clinical placement expansion.Donna has teaching experience in a wide range of settings having trained as a secondary school teacher (11-18) teaching GCSE and A-Level Biology and KS4/5 Health and Social Care. She has also taught and provided support to 1st and 4th year Medical Students, and Midwifery Students within clinical settings in a local hospital trust in her previous role as a clinical educator.During her previous school- and clinical-teaching roles she completed a PGCERT in Health Professional Education and gained NMC teacher status, fellowship of Advance HE, and completed a PGCE in Secondary Education gaining Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).Donna has a special interest in Digital Education, particularly in the use of Digital Technologies to support teaching, learning, and assessment and digital exclusion. She is currently undertaking a MA in Digital Education.
