Biography

Dr Amir Khan holds a PhD in Materials and Experimental Acoustics from the University of Bradford (UK). Dr Khan progressed from a research fellow to a full-time lecturer in Materials Engineering; he has been the leading investigator in several projects with DTI, EU, and SMEs. Dr Khans main research interests are in novel materials and material characterisation methods. His other area of work relates to numerical and computational modelling of physical phenomena, characterisation of functional materials and development of laboratory instrumentation. A majority of funding for his research comes from the industry and European Union. Dr Khan has been invited to review research papers for leading international researchjournals including the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, Journal ofSound and Vibration, Proceedings of the Royal Society and Journal of MaterialsMinerals and Mining. Currently, he is a reviewer for two international journals:the Journal of Applied Acoustics and Journal of the Acoustical Society ofAmerica. The results of his work on acoustics at Bradford has attracted theattention of national and international media and have disseminated vianewspapers and magazines. He has co-authored 1 book, over 15 journal and conference papers. Dr Khanis the module coordinator and lecturer for MEng/MSc in Structural Dynamics & Earthquake Engineering - (CSE7010B),Lecturer for stage 2 Soil Mechanics - (CSE5009B),and Lecturer for Engineering Materials (ENG4007B) and Design, Buit and Test (ENG4006B).Dr Khans recent research activities include KTP with Advanced Diesel Engineering, KTP with Kimpton Energy Solutions, Vibro-Acoustic Products from Post-Manufacturing Waste (DTI), Holistic and Sustainable Abatement of Noise by Optimized Combinations of Natural and Artificial means (HOSSANA).
