The Medilink Awards, held in partnership with the Yorkshire and Humber Academic Health Science Network (AHSN), celebrate the achievements of Healthcare Technology and related Life Sciences companies from across Yorkshire and Humber. More than 100 delegates from the sector attended the ceremonial dinner held at the Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds.

Professor York was recognised for his world-leading research in pharmaceutical materials science and his work as the founder of Bradford Particle Design Ltd, a spin-out venture from the University of Bradford, which was acquired for $200m by Inhale Therapeutics in 2001.

Peter York, Chairman of Crystec Pharma and Emeritus Professor at University of Bradford, said: "It’s a prestigious award and very flattering, but I share this with colleagues, mentors and my students who I’ve had a the privilege of supervising, some of whom have gone on themselves to lead distinguished careers in business and clinical sciences.

“It’s great to receive the award as someone who has lived, worked and loved the county of Yorkshire for 35 years. Having an award from your own backyard so to speak, from people in your own field, is doubly rewarding.”

Kevin Kiely, Managing Director of Medilink Yorkshire and Humber, said: “Our region has for many years been recognised for its achievements in the health technologies sector and the quality of this year’s awards nominees reinforces our credentials as a leader in healthcare innovation and growth.

“I look forward to Yorkshire and Humber being well represented at the Medilink UK awards in April – I’m sure our companies will do us proud.”
