Qualified as an RGN in April 1998, my first job was at St James Hospital on the acute renal ward, I worked for 6 months until November 1998 where I joined the Accident and Emergency (A&E) team at Bradford Royal Infirmary. I worked in this department for over 15 years working my way up the ranks to senior sister.

In 2011 I had the opportunity to work at the University of Bradford on a secondment for 12 months. I soon learnt the love for teaching and decided to undertake my teaching practice as part of my Masters.

Leaving University I was given a career mentor Professor Claire Surr, who introduced me to Dementia. Together we looked at people with dementias experience in Accident and Emergency. In the following year of returning to A&E I was given the role of dementia project manager implementing the National Dementia Screening CQUIN , from here I developed the role of Lead Nurse for Dementia, I worked in this role up till February 2018 before joining the University of Bradford as a full time Adult Lecturer.
