How to apply for postgraduate University of Bradford courses

You can apply for any of our postgraduate courses at any time of the year - for entry this year or next year.

The steps below will show you what you need to do, and when you need to do them.

Current students

If you are a current University of Bradford student, you can use our fast-track application process to apply for our taught Master's courses. The form takes just a couple of minutes to complete.

        

Step one: choose your course or area of PhD study

Taught courses

Search our course database to find a course that suits you, and check you meet the entry requirements. 

Most of our postgraduate taught courses start in September, but some have different start dates throughout the year, and may have part-time or distance learning options.

Research degrees/PhD

If you wish to apply for a research degree, such as a PhD, you will need to write a detailed research proposal setting out the nature of the problem your research will address.

Step two: complete an application form

The easiest way to apply is online.

This will help us process your application more quickly and allow you to submit your supporting documents electronically.

If you are unable to apply online, please email admissions@bradford.ac.uk to request a paper application form.


If you wish to apply for a module at the Faculty of Health Studies please download our module application form below:

Return completed forms to the FoHS recruitment team via email.


We will also need the following supporting documents, along with any other information specified on the course page:

  • Degree certificates/transcripts
  • Research proposal (if required)
  • Two references (including one academic reference)
  • Evidence of English language level (if required)
  • A copy of your passport

Once you have applied you will have access to the University's Applicant Portal, where you can track the status of your application.

You should also start thinking about how you plan to fund your postgraduate study - you may need to apply for loans or grants at this stage.

International students

If you applying from outside the UK and require additional support you may apply through your country representative.

They can help you at every stage and communicate with the University on your behalf. They often provide additional services to ensure your smooth arrival to the UK such as visa application support and assistance with your travel arrangements.

Step three: your application is processed

When you submit your application it will be sent to the relevant office to be processed.

The University of Bradford strives to ensure all applications are assessed fairly and consistently. It will be assessed against a pre-determined set of criteria to determine whether you are suitable for the course.

We look carefully at your existing qualifications and any you are currently studying for, along with any relevant work experience.

We may need to request further information from you - or your application may be passed on to an academic in your chosen area to help make a decision.

Admissions policies and procedures

The University of Bradford is committed to ensuring that its selection policies and procedures are transparent, followed fairly, courteously and consistently.

Step four: a decision is made

We aim to make decisions on applications as quickly as possible. 

Our Admissions team will send you the formal decision on your application by email, and it will also be available on the Applicant Portal.

If you have been successful you can accept the offer by replying to the email or through the Applicant Portal.

Step five: final acceptance

Once you have met any outstanding conditions and accepted the offer you will be sent a final acceptance.

If you are a UK or EU applicant this will be sent to you in the post.

If you are an international applicant it will be emailed to you and will be your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) statement. Your CAS number is required for your visa application.

Step six: prepare for life as a University of Bradford student
