University of Bradford named one of the world's most international universities

Published: Thu 14 Jan 2016

The University of Bradford has been named in the top 200 of the world's most international universities 2016.

Bradford secured 118th place among 800 worldwide institutions considered by the Times Higher Education in the 2016 list published today (14 January 2016).

The ranking is compiled using the results of the international outlook indicator in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2015-16. All the institutions that feature in the overall 2015-16 top 800 have been considered, up from a pool of 400 institutions last year.

This measure considers each institution’s proportion of international staff, proportion of international students and proportion of research papers published with at least one co-author from another country.

University of Bradford Vice-Chancellor, Professor Brian Cantor, said: “Universities participate in the global market as drivers of the knowledge economy. We need to be internationally involved and internationally visible. We aim to be a university where international teachers and researchers want to work and overseas students want to study.

“We aim to carry out research that impacts on policymakers, society and business leaders worldwide, deliver teaching that prepares students to become leaders in the global economy, and create opportunities for international exchanges with our partners.

“I am absolutely delighted that in our 50th year Bradford has been recognised as one of the world’s most international universities and I know it reflects the great work we are doing here as we develop as a world-leading technology university.”

Phil Baty, Times Higher Education World University Rankings editor, said: “An institution’s global outlook is one of the key markers of a prestigious university. The top institutions hire faculty from all over the world, attract students from a global market of top talent and collaborate with leading departments wherever they happen to be based.

“All institutions in this list deserve to celebrate – being named one of the most international universities in the world is a sign of great potential, competitiveness and dynamism.”
